My Adelaide
I was born and bred in Adelaide and although I have travelled all over Australia and beyond, there is not a city I would rather live in than My Adelaide and no state rather than South Australia.
WHY? It is a city of wide well planned streets, beautiful, unique, historical buildings, graceful, imposing churches, extensive parklands and gardens, great food and wine experiences, cultural festivals, international sporting events and a vibrant, friendly a multicultural population.
A short drive and you are in the Adelaide Hills with its orchards, vineyards, restaurants and stunning scenery and wildlife. Even closer are magnificent beaches with white sands, blue seas and natural coastlines. Drive a little further and there are world class wineries, great holiday resorts, magnificent outback scenery and adventures.
Join me while we travel around Adelaide and beyond.
Rundle Mall is the main shopping strip in the CBD (Central Business District). Once a busy street with trams and buses running through it, now a busy shopping centre with a wide walkway, large department stores, small shops, sculptures, and stalls. Busy and bustling on weekdays and Saturdays, almost deserted on Sundays and evenings thanks to Adelaide's archaic shopping hours which sees shops closed after 5.30pm and on Sundays. Then it becomes a quiet haven for the homeless.
Buildings old and new
The historic Beehave Corner, once a favourite meeting place
Now replaced by "The Mall's Balls" - officially "The Spheres" by artist Bert Flugelmann.
A favourite of generations of children - the bronze pigs.
Buskers of all ages abound

Or just people "chilling out".
And of course Wildlife

It looks like a wonderful place.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I think so.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photos. For many years I have longed to re-visit Australia, but it is rather far from the Canadian prairie. However, given the chance, I'd happily fly the 14,000 miles to be there again.
